Submission Process and Deadlines
Admission into many Creative Writing courses requires instructor consent. For these courses, instructors select students by reviewing samples of student writing. Course descriptions indicate required submission material. To apply to a Creative Writing course, samples should be submitted online by the submission deadline (see below).
NOTE: Students may apply for no more than 2 courses in each genre.
Students will be informed whether they have been admitted in advance of the first day of classes.
SUBMISSION DEADLINES 2016-2017:
Please keep in mind that all writing samples should be no more than 3-5 double spaced pages, with standard font and margins. These submissions do not need to be full stories, but may be excerpts from a larger work. In the case of poetry, submissions should consist of 3-5 pages of poems (no need to double space here).
Please use the statement of purpose field to briefly explain any special interest you have in the course, making sure to note if you are completing a minor in English and Creative Writing or if you plan to complete a creative thesis. We cannot give priority to minors or thesis students, with the exception of CW Track workshops, but it is important that we are able to track these applications.
